Sometime in the late 1990’s, we did five seasons of shows at the Spring Farm CARES theater under the direction of Bonnie Jones Reynolds. I designed the lighting for the George Kigercat Memorial Hall, but I resisted getting on stage for them (despite Bonnie’s attempts) until we did a show called Spring Farm Follies. Paul Osterman did the music for that show, and he suggested that I listen to an old radio piece by Stan Freeberg, called Elderly Man River. I did, and I wrote this modified version to perform with my friend Richard Enders. He was kind enough to come re-record it for our podcast. Paul wasn’t available, so Irena Lingley sat in on piano.
